Some OEMs prefer to apply their own UI on top of Android OS versions on phones that they release. Huawei is no exception, as its EmotionUI ROM has been around for quite some time and has been applied on almost all the company's handsets.

EmotionUI 5.0 will be coming soon. In fact, it should be released this fall, according to Dutch website GSNinfo. The report shows that Huawei has been working on the new update for quite some time now, and the company has some exciting features in store.

Huawei EmotionUI 5.0 will have a completely new UI design, one that strongly resembles stock Android. The overhaul of the UI has been brought about in order to appeal to Western customers, which means that the company’s strategy for the future has also undergone some changes. Huawei has already made a name for itself in the Western market with the Huawei P9, released this year.

Huawei EmotionUI 5.0 will be revealed in Q3 2016

The Head of Huawei mobile division, Li Changzhu, has also mentioned that the new design wasn’t created at the expense of functionality and customizability, two major factors in EMUI. Then, the report suggests the EmotionUI 5.0 will be released in Q3 2016, but a more exact date has yet to be revealed.

Most likely, the new version will see the light of day during IFA 2016 in Berlin. The company is also expected to launch a new smartphone in the Mate line, in order to promote the OS.

Huawei released the EMUI 4 during the second half of 2015, and it was based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Considering this, the EmotionUI 5.0 could have some characteristics belonging to Android N, with the latest Android OS expected to hit the market in the following months. But until Google actually launches the new OS version, it still has to reveal its name.
