14 DAY TRIAL // Huawei is one of the companies that have always tried to innovate in terms of design, and the just-launched Matebook X Pro is living proof.
With an edge-to-edge display and nearly invisible bezels, the Matebook X Pro is certainly one of the most eye-catching laptops ever released, way more modern that the majority of rivals, like Apple’s MacBook series for instance.
Huawei’s new laptop features a screen-to-body ratio of no less than 91%, which is absolutely impressive given 13.9-inch display. This makes it not also look sleek, but also be super portable, without compromising the tech specs in any way.
The 3K LTPS display features 3000 x 2000 resolution, 260 PPI, 100% sRGB colour gamut, 450 nits maximum brightness and 1500:1 contrast ratio, as well as 10-point touch support with Gorilla Glass protection. It tips the scale at only 1.33 kg.
Tech specs
In terms of technical specifications, there’s no chance you’ll be disappointed. The Matebook X Pro is available with a choice of two chips, namely 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8550U and i5-8250U paired with up to 16GB RAM. The GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 with 2 GB GDDR5 and Intel UHD Graphics 620.
You can order the laptop with a maximum of 512GB SSD storage, and you also get a 1-megapixel front-facing camera, a headphone jack, two USB-C ports, one USB-A connector.
Huawei says the battery can provide up to 12 hours of video playback per charge, though as usual, battery performance is a thing that we’ll have to determine during a review because real-life figures are always different from the official ones.
The power button also comes with a fingerprint sensor built-in for Windows Hello integration, while the front-facing camera was integrated right into the keyboard in the function keys row. The mechanical webcam pops out from the keyboard whenever you need it, and this is an awesome approach since Huawei didn’t have enough space in the screen due to the small bezels.
The Huawei Matebook X Pro will be available in two different colors, Mystic Silver and Space Gray, with European pricing between €1499 and €1899 (at current exchange rates that’s approximately $1850 to $2350). Shipments will begin this spring.
