Huawei is coming to IFA 2015 with new smartphones

Huawei has been incredibly active this year, pushing multiple smartphone models onto the market. Now, the IFA 2015 tradeshow is coming right up, and naturally, the Chinese device maker will be making an appearance during the event as well.

Last year during the same tradeshow, Huawei unveiled the Mate7 phablet, which was pretty well received by users and critics alike. This year, Huawei is coming back with a new Mate model, specifically the Mate S, a handset we have seen leak in the wild several times before.

While we wait for Huawei to make the smartphone official, the folks at French website Nowhere Else are teasing us with a bunch of live images showcasing the Mate S. As you can see, the handset looks pretty sleek, although it doesn’t take advantage of a bezeless design (the bars are still pretty visible).

One can also spot the on-screen buttons and the phone’s metal build. Moreover, the Honor S will feature a fingerprint scanner on the back, just like the Mate7, and next to the authentication system, you can see the dual-LED, dual tone flash.

The Huawei Mate S will go live in a few days

Earlier information related to the Mate S seems to suggest that the phone comes with Force Touch technology, which is the same setup that is rumored to be included in the iPhone 6s and is currently available in the Apple Watch.

Force Touch technology allows smartphones to distinguish between strong and light touch, so the device will react differently depending on how the user touches the display.

The Mate S is expected to make a debut with a spacious 5.7-inch capacitive touchscreen with support for full HD (1080p) resolution. Huawei is yet to implement a QHD panel in its smartphones, but who knows, maybe this will happen with the Nexus the company has been designing for Google.

Moving along, the Mate S is poised to bundle an octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 935 processor, complemented by 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Unlike other flagships on the market today, the Mate S will be offered with a microSD card slot for further memory expansion.

In the photography front, we have a 20MP frontal camera that features autofocus LED flash and 4K video recording, plus a secondary 8MP selfie camera up in front.

The phablet will ship out to customers with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS with Emotion 3.1 UI on top, but since Emotion 4.0 is coming by the end of the year, the device will probably be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Update: Here's an official looking press render showcasing the phone from @evleaks.
