Huawei has been expected to release the Honor 8 today, and sure enough, the company has made the Honor 8 official in China for the price of $300. Pre-orders have already started in the country with the smartphone set to go on sale starting July 19.

With specs on the Honor 8 having leaked for weeks now, Huawei has finally released the smartphone in China, according to FoneArena. This is the company's latest high-end handset in the Honor series, and it comes with a 5.2-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass display and other powerful specs.

Honor 8 runs a 2.3GHz octa-core Kirin 950 SoC and boasts Android Marshmallow 6.0 with EMUI 4.1 on top. It's available in two variants, one with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and the other with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

Storage can be expanded to 128GB using a micro-SD card. The smartphone's selling point is definitely the 12MP rear camera with laser autofocus and 1.76-micron pixels size. The rear camera has f/2.2 aperture and should perform well in low-light conditions.

It's no surprise that the Honor 8 comes with such a rear camera, considering rumors on the dual-camera setup leaked in May, and the Honor V8 had the same setup on the back. A comparison with the Honor V8 is actually quite appropriate, given that the Honor 8 is a scaled-down version of the smartphone released back in May this year.

Honor 8 is available in multiple color variants

Honor 8 sports a fingerprint sensor on the back, and it draws power from a 3,000mAh battery, with support for fast charging. In addition, it sports an 8MP camera on the front, and it comes with hybrid dual SIM. The smartphone is 7.45mm thick and weighs 153 grams. It also provides USB Type-C and 4G LTE connectivity.

The smartphone will be available in multiple color variants, namely Pearl White, Sunrise Gold, Midnight Black, Sakura Pink, and Sapphire Blue. The price should start at $300 for the 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage variant and reach $374 for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It will go on sale starting July 19 in China, but there's no information on availability in other countries.
