Chinese handset maker Huawei announced the P8 flagship smartphone during a special press event held in London back in April. At the same event, we also saw the company unveil the P8max, a unique phone residing in the space between tablets and smartphones.

Back then, the manufacturing company didn’t say anything about how it plans to price the P8max, but this week Huawei has announced that the handset will go on sale for the hefty price of $610 / €544 (as seen at Mobile Dad).

The device maker has provided us with a teaser image for the phablet, which also reveals that it will be up for grabs starting June 26.

Now, you might think that the price for the P8max is a little too high, and with good reason. Still, Huawei packs some pretty nifty specs inside the device, which comes with a ginormous display.

Will you pay $610 for the Huawei P8max?

The phone arrives with a 6.8-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display with support for full HD (1080p) resolution and 324ppi (pixel per inch). Corning Gorilla Glass 3 coating is included as well.

On the inside, Huawei P8max is equipped with a HiSilicon Kirin 935 chipset which bundles two quad-core processors of the 2.2GHz Cortex-A53 and 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 varieties.

Given the fact that we’re dealing with a device that bundles a display similar to a tablet’s, Huawei has decided to embed a large 4,360 mAh battery under the hood, which in theory should be able to allow for 15 hours of video playback, 15 hours of Internet browsing, or 60 hours of music playback.

On the imaging front, the P8max arrives with a 13MP photo snapper on the back, complete with autofocus, dual-tone flash and a professional-grade Image Signal Processor. All these feats prompt Huawei to boast that the P8max takes advantage of technology similar to that found in SLR cameras.

There’s also a 5MP camera up in front, which should be used for taking selfies and making video calls.

Huawei also mentions that the P8max will arrive with a dual-SIM and dual standby for China Mobile and China Unicom carriers, as well as support for LTE.

The P8max is set to ship out with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box, and there’s no word on whether the company plans to push the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for it at some point.
