Early this fall, Huawei announced a new line of smartphones, with satisfactory mid-range specs and quite sleek design. Huawei Nova and Nova Plus made quite the impression on the market and a new report shows that the company has decided to introduce a new color variant for customers in China.

Upon their launch, Huawei Nova and Nova Plus were made available in three color options, Prestige Gold, Mystic Silver and Titanium Grey. The forth color variant is called Obsidian Black, and judging by the images, it follows the same design traits as the other options and offers a classy look in a shade of dark black. This isn’t the only Huawei phone to receive an Obsidian Black variant, as Huawei Mate 9 also welcomed a black variant a few days ago.

The new color variant was announced on December 25, right during the winter holidays, and it’s already available in China. Huawei has yet to announce if the variant will be arriving to other countries as well. The price of Huawei Nova in Obsidian Black should be the same as for the other color options.

The Obsidian Black variant could be released globally

Huawei Nova is a satisfactory mid-range phone with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and 3GB of RAM. The phone draws power from a 3,020mAh battery and runs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor, with 32GB of internal storage, expandable to 128GB using a microSD card.

Moreover, it has a rear camera of 12MP with phase-detection autofocus and the capacity to record 4K video. The selfie snapper in the front has 8MP with f/2.0 aperture and the phone comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back.

Aside from this, Nova has a USB Type-C port and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top. Huawei Nova Plus is larger with a 5.5-inch display and a more capable rear camera of 16MP. The two phones are currently available globally, but it remains to be seen when the Black variant will be launched outside China.
