The update is only available in China for the moment

One of the newest mid-range Android smartphones launched by Huawei, the Nova is now eligible for an Android 7.0 Nougat beta build. The Nova was officially unveiled back in September, alongside another mid-range handset, the Nova Plus.

However, Huawei hasn't yet expanded the Android 7.0 Nougat program to the Nova Plus, though this is very possible to happen in the not so distant future.

The folks over at GSMArena report Huawei has now pushed a beta build of Android 7.0 Nougat to Nova smartphones in China. Unfortunately, the update is not available in any other country at the moment.

It's also worth mentioning that Huawei is rolling out the update as firmware version B321. If you're a lucky owner of a Huawei Nova smartphone in China, then you should also know the update is deployed to select 500 units (B153 model).

This is the second Huawei smartphone that is now part of the handset maker's Android Nougat beta program after many G9 Plus owners reported a few days ago that they captured a Nougat update.

Huawei is one of the few major handset manufacturers that have already released Android Nougat updates for some of their smartphones, including the P9 and Mate 8. It's also one of the few that have already launched a Nougat smartphone, the Huawei Mate 9 in this case.

Sadly, we don't have any information regarding the release of the final version of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Huawei Nova. Obviously, that will happen sometime in 2017, but we hope the update will be released sooner rather than later.

If you own the Huawei Nova Plus, chances are this smartphone will be updated to Android Nougat as well, even if it's not yet part of the beta program. Also, other Huawei handsets will receive Nougat updates next year, so stay tuned for more info on the matter.
