14 DAY TRIAL // Huawei has just announced that it will make its Mate 9 phablet available in the US for the price of $600 starting tomorrow, January 6. The device will be available for purchase at Best Buy, Newegg, Amazon, B&H, and other retailers.
Huawei officially announced the Mate 9 back in November of last year and the company revealed that the phablet would arrive in the US tomorrow. "Response to Huawei Mate 9 has been extremely positive, resulting in numerous industry awards and accolades," said Zhendong Zhu, President, Huawei Device USA. This is specifically why the company will offer the smartphone in one of the world’s biggest markets.
"With Mate 9, we set out to improve every element of the smartphone experience, creating a dynamic and powerful device that takes a big step forward in what consumers expect in a smartphone. We're excited to introduce the Mate 9 flagship device to the U.S. market," the President of Huawei Device USA added.
The world’s first phone with Amazon Alexa pre-installed
Huawei’s Mate 9 comes with Amazon Alexa incorporated, the cloud-based voice service that helps users control their smart home or check daily news simply by using their voice. The Mate 9 is the first smartphone to come with Amazon Alexa pre-installed.
The Mate 9 runs a Kirin 960 chipset coupled with Mali G71 graphics processing unit. This is the world’s first chipset to have an ARM Cortex-A73/A53 octa-core CPU and the GPU offers 180% improved performance and 40% reduction in battery life. Speaking of which, the phone comes with a 4,000mAh battery with SuperCharge technology. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, as well as a fingerprint sensor.
The dual-camera setup on the back consists of a 12MP RGB sensor and a 20MP monochrome sensor with Hybrid Zoom and 2x magnification. The lenses are created by Leica and the dual-camera system incorporates OIS and laser autofocus.
The Mate 9 will be made available in Space Gray and Moonlight Silver color variants.
