The Mate 9 has already been confirmed to arrive in the United States and Europe, but that won't happen until December (which is just around the corner). However, by the time the phone hits the shelves, Huawei will push the first OTA update for the Mate 9.

Since the phone hasn't even been released on these markets, we can assume that the update Huawei decided to deploy on the Mate 9 is pretty important.

Huawei has yet to announce the availability of the OTA upgrade, but the folks over at AndroidCentral have just captured this software update, which comes with a fairly detailed changelog.

The update will still keep EMUI 5.0 on the Mate 9, so there's no change in regard to the phone's UI. However, there are some improvements and optimizations that you absolutely want on your Mate 9.

For example, the update adds 6x zoom, which should enable Mate 9 users to take clearer photos from a distance. Also, Huawei mentions that it brings notifications in the status bar when verification is needed for public Wi-Fi.

The above changes are meant to improve some existent features, but the update also optimizes some characteristics, such as the display in the status bar, which should now show notifications in a clearer way.

Also, Huawei integrated the latest carrier parameters for a better network experience. Furthermore, the update contains the latest Google security patches, which means you'll probably end up with the November security patch. Lastly, the update should delete unnecessary prompts.

According to the device maker, the update shouldn't delete any of your personal data on the phone, though it's recommended to back up any important data before updating.

The OTA update will be available worldwide to all Huawei Mate 9 units, so you'll probably get it as soon as you purchase the phone.
