A Pro version of the phablet will be released too

Word about Huawei's next phablet, the Mate 8, emerged back in May, but at that time, we only knew a few things about what it looks like and what it has to offer in terms of specs.

Even though previous rumors pointed to a possible June release, it looks like we're already in July and we have no confirmation from Huawei that the Mate 8 will make it to the market anytime soon.

Still, the fact that the first press render of the smartphone has just emerged online is a good indicator that Huawei Mate 8 is ready to be unleashed on the market.

We suspect that the Chinese company will announce the Mate 8 in late August or early September at IFA 2015 trade fair, but take it as a pure speculation for the moment.

The good news is that now we have more info on the phablet's specs sheet, but we also have a pretty good idea of what the Mate 8 looks like.

According to a new report, Huawei Mate 8 will be powered by a homegrown HiSilicon chipset that accommodates a quad-core Cortex A53 processor and another quad-core Cortex A72 CPU clocked at 2.4GHz.

The octa-core processor will be complemented by a Mali-T880 graphics processing unit and 3GB of RAM. Huawei Mate 8 will pack 32GB of internal memory by default, but users will be able to further expand storage up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

A Pro version will pack 4GB RAM and 64GB storage

Rumor has it that Huawei will also launch a Pro version of the Mate 8, which will pack no less than 4GB of RAM, along with 64GB of storage. Obviously, the price will be slightly higher, but it will be worthy for those looking for the ultimate monster smartphone.

When it comes to the screen, Huawei Mate 8 will be a beast. The phablet is said to pack a 6-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.

On the back, the smartphone is said to feature a 16-megapixel camera with OIS (optical image stabilization), autofocus, LED flash and 4K video recording, while on the front, there will be a no less impressive 8-megapixel camera for great selfies.

Huawei Mate 7 will also pack a fingerprint scanner, which is placed below the rear-facing camera. It will feature an all-metal design and it should also pack dual-SIM support.

Update: French blog Nowhereelse claims the press render of the Huawei Mate 8 is fake and that the device in the picture is in fact a "photoshoped" Huawei Honor 7.
