A few days ago, we reported that Huawei was working on the successor to the Mate 8 smartphone and that the company might release two variants of the Mate 9. It seems that Huawei has already started sending invites for a press event to be held on November 3.

The invite doesn’t specifically mention the Mate 9, but the upcoming smartphone has been leaking in multiple images lately and some of its specs have been revealed in the process. The press event is scheduled to take place in Munich, Germany, at 2pm on November 3, according to Pocket Lint.

The rear chassis for the Mate 9 has just leaked in an image online on Playfuldroid. The thing that stands out from the photo is the dual-camera setup on the back of the smartphone. While the source claims that the photo portrays the Mate 9, we can’t help but notice that it resembles another upcoming smartphone by Huawei, the Honor 6X.

However, if this is indeed the Mate 9, then the smartphone will be coming with a fingerprint scanner and two camera sensors on the back, possibly from Leica. The Mate 9 is expected to come with a Kirin 960 chipset and an octa-core CPU.

Mate 9 might come in two variants depending on RAM capacity

Huawei is expected to provide two variants of the Mate 9 smartphone, one of which will feature 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory for an estimated price of $510. The second variant will reportedly come with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory, while the estimated price might reach $585.

The phone could also come with a 5.9-inch Quad HD display and an all-metal design. Battery capacity might reach 4,000mAh and the device might come in multiple colors. Pictures of color variants for the Mate 9 have leaked recently.

Initial rumors have stated that the Huawei Mate 9 might arrive during the last month of this year, but it seems that Huawei will be unveiling the upcoming phone sooner.
