The Honor 6 was one of the most popular Android smartphones available in India last year when it was launched. Even so, it looks like it took the Chinese company more than a year to provide Honor 6 owners with Android Lollipop updates.

The good news is Huawei is now rolling out Android 5.1 Lollipop for Honor 6 in India, a new report confirms. Also, owners of the smartphone will be pleased to know that while the update is pushed OTA (over the air), they can also download it manually.

If you happen to own the Huawei Honor 6, you can check out for the update right now, but as mentioned earlier, you can also manually download and install it on your smartphone.

Before doing that, make sure your phone's battery is at least 60% charged and that they have enough storage since the file is about 1.3GB in size.

The latest version of EMUI is included in the update too

Concerning the changes Android 5.1 Lollipop brings to Huawei Honor 6, owners of the smartphone shouldn't to expect anything impressive visually since the update also contains an upgrade of the EMUI, which basically hides most of the design improvements.

However, there are lots of under-the-hood enhancements, which will probably improve the overall performance of the smartphone, but also add new features into the mix.

If you decide to go for a manual download, then you should check out Huawei India support page for the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop build.

Download the file directly onto your phone's internal memory and reboot the Honor 6 to recovery mode by press and hold Volume Down + Power at the same time.

Then, simply tap the “Install update zip” option to start installing Android 5.1 Lollipop on your Huawei Honor 6 smartphone. As soon as the upgrade processor is successfully completed, your smartphone will automatically reboot.
