14 DAY TRIAL // A few days ago, we were telling you that Huawei was hard at work on its EMUI 4.0 interface (Emotion UI is the company’s Android skin) which will be based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow and should be made available to users everywhere before the end of the year.
Huawei has been quite sluggish when it comes to pushing Android updates, as not many of its phones have received Android Lollipop at this moment in time. But maybe with Marshmallow things are going to be different.
While we wait for Google to push out the final version of Android 6.0 to the masses, at which point device makers will start picking it up and offer it to their respective devices, we have some good news for Huawei device owners based in India.
Huawei preparing Lollipop update for a slew of Honor models
According to Honor India’s Facebook account, a bunch of Huawei Honor smartphones are going to get Android Lollipop in the country in the upcoming weeks.
What’s more, the company is providing the exact dates when we can expect to see the new builds land on the devices. All the models will be getting Emotion UI 3.1, which is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
According to the post, the Honor 4C is expected to get the update starting with September 21, while the Honor 6 will get its fair share of Lollipop on September 25. The next phone in line to get the new build is the Honor 6 Plus, which will see it arrive on September 29.
Last but not least, owners of the Honor 4X will have to wait until October 20 to get the upgrade to Lollipop.
Huawei did not say anything about the Honor 3C or Honor Holly or whether their owners can expect to see Android Lollipop arrive for them at some point or not.
With Marshmallow around the corner, it’s good to see that Huawei is hurrying things along. The Honor 4C launched back in April and shipped out with Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. So did the Honor 6, Honor 6 Plus and Honor 4X. So it’s high time the phones got Lollipop on board.
