HTC has already revealed the date when its newest flagship smartphone will be unveiled and the company even released a teaser video highlighting the phone’s main feature, its touch-sensitive edges. But the phone will also pack premium specs to ensure high performance.

HTC U 11 recently hit Geekbench and recorded a score of 1912 during the single-core test and 6137 for the multi-core test. The smartphone appears to run the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and incorporates Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 platform with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.9Ghz and 4GB of RAM.

The high score is quite similar to Samsung’s Galaxy S8 performance, especially since the two phones feature the same chipset and RAM combo. But HTC’s U 11 is also said to come with a 5.5-inch QHD display and 64GB of internal storage, which could be expanded using a microSD card.

Rear camera capacity on the new HTC U 11 is said to reach 12MP, with a 16MP selfie snapper and a battery capacity of 4,000mAh with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 feature. HTC’s latest flagship is also said to come with the latest Bluetooth 5.0 module.

The smartphone’s main selling point will be the touch-sensitive edges that will allow users to open apps and perform various actions with a simple squeeze.

In fact, HTC will be marketing this feature as the main highlight, considering that its internal specs and performance could be quite similar to other flagships on the market. The teaser revealed a blue color for the new phone, while the device is expected to come in a plenitude of colors, including white, black, red and silver.

HTC U 11 will be announced next month on May 16, when the company will reveal availability and pricing details for the new device. It’s worth mentioning that the availability of some color variants will depend on the region.
