Details about HTC’s U 11 flagship smartphone have been leaking for quite some time now and even HTC released a couple of teasers to build up the hype. Now, renders based on factory CAD sketches were revealed by 91 Mobiles and @OnLeaks.

The images show a glossy red variant of the HTC U 11, while revealing that the smartphone will have thin bezels on the left and right sides of the screen. Overall, the smartphone will be 8mm thick at the bottom and 9.2mm thick at the top.

HTC U 11 does appear to be quite a thick smartphone, compared to other devices on the market. But the added thickness is reportedly caused by the phone’s squeezable frame, which allows users to launch apps and manage various settings easily.

HTC U 11 appears to come with an aluminum unibody frame and a fingerprint sensor will be located at the front. Its 5.5-inch display will be flat, with slightly curved bezels and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Snapdragon 835 platform and a 12MP rear camera

The rear panel houses the 12MP main camera with a round camera ring, compared to the square one with rounded corners found on the HTC Ultra. Inside, the smartphone will pack all the latest components, including Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 platform and 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

The selfie camera will have a capacity of 16MP, while the device will enjoy a USB Type-C port and a 3,000mAh battery. Internal memory should reach 128GB, with the option to add more using a microSD card. Android 7.1 Nougat will run on the smartphone out of the box.

It’s also worth mentioning that HTC U 11 will ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack and HTC intends to include an adapter inside the retail box, so that consumers would be able to use their own earphones. HTC will officially unveil the U 11 on May 16.
