We reported to you last week about a preliminary list of HTC smartphones that should receive the highly-anticipated Android 6.0 Marshmallow update at some point in the coming months.

The list wasn't finalized and not even official. Well, it looks like HTC has just came forward with a list of devices that have been confirmed to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates in the future.

The Taiwanese handset maker did more than this and also stated that it would begin pushing Android 6.0 Marshmallow for at least two smartphones by the end of 2015.

These two smartphones that are supposed to start receiving Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrades this year are HTC One M9 and HTC One M8.

There are 12 handsets in total to receive the upgrade

However, HTC mentions that not all carriers in all regions will have completed roll out before the end of 2015, so that will most likely depend on their relationship with the Taiwanese company.

The One M9 and One M8 won't be the only smartphones to be getting Marshmallow, but the rest of the models put on this list will receive the updates next year.

That's the bad news. But the good news is the list contains quite a few devices, so HTC will have a lot of work to deliver on their promise.

Without any further ado, here are the rest of the smartphones confirmed by HTC to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates next year: HTC One M9+, HTC One E9+, HTC One E9, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820 and HTC Desire 816.

Last but not least, HTC also confirmed that additional smartphones might be added, so if the device you own does not appear on the list do not despair yet.
