Following the launch of the controversial One A9, which turned out to be a nice surprise, HTC is back with another Android smartphone in the same family.

The One M9e is a mid-range smartphone that has been silently launched in China. It's unclear whether or not the device will be available in other countries, but if HTC goes for a global rollout later on, it will definitely cost slightly more.

As GforGames points out, HTC One M9e can be had for 2,660 yuan outright, which is about $425 or €390. Chinese retailer Tmall is now selling the smartphone, but other authorized resellers will pick this one up as well.

Moving on to actual specs, some might say that the HTC One M9e is a bit overpriced, so it's up to each and every one to decide whether or not this smartphone is worth its price.

A brand-new HTC smartphone aimed at mid-range market

First of all, the One M9e ships with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system with Sense UI on top. In addition, the handset sports a decent 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution.

On the back, HTC's mid-range phone features a 13-megapixel shooter with autofocus, LED flash, OIS (optical image stabilization) and full HD (1080p) video recording. In the front, there's a secondary 4-UltraPixel camera.

HTC One M9s is powered by a 64-bit 2.2GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6795T Helio X10 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory.

Also, the smartphone comes with microSD card slot for memory expansion (up to 2TB) and a wide range of connectivity options such as 4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS with AGPS and microUSB 2.0.

The One M9e drains energy from a non-removable 2,840 mAh battery, it measures 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.61mm and weighs 157g (battery included).
