HTC has just unveiled a new premium phone

A few hours ago, we were just telling you that HTC would be hosting a press event in Japan during which we expect to see a few new smartphones make a debut into the wild. One of them surfaced online hours before the announcement. We’re talking about an updated version of the One M9+, which incidentally went official not so long ago.

If the Chinese translation from Engadget China is correct, the new One M9+ is called Aurora Edition (or Supreme) and will be made available for purchase starting October 5. As we previously told you, the phone does not differentiate itself from the original One M9+ through a lot of aspects.

Actually, HTC has just taken the opportunity to improve things a little bit in the camera department. Apart from that, the One M9+ Aurora Edition is pretty much the same as the earlier model.

So on this version, the One M9+ Aurora Edition uses a 21MP main snapper with anti-shake focus plus a laser autofocus located where the secondary camera on the original One M9+ used to be.

Next to it, HTC added a dual-LED, dual tone flash. By contrast, the other phone featured a 20MP+2.1MP combo plus a 4MP selfie shooter. Instead, the Aurora Edition now has a 5MP camera for you to perform all the self-loving acts in the world.

The remaining specification coincide with those of the older One M9+, meaning the Aurora Edition brings forth a 5.2-inch display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and a MediaTek MT6795T (Helio X10, to be more precise) chipset under the hood working together with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of built-in storage.

The physical button is also present and embedded into it sits a fingerprint scanner. The whole device is kept alive by a 2,840mAh battery, which hopefully will be enough to keep engines running throughout the day. Like the previous model, the Aurora Edition is also made up of aluminum.

One thing that HTC flagships devices have been known for is poor camera performance, but apparently, the company is attempting to fix things one way or another. The phone will be offered in Taiwan (at first?) with a price of approximately $630 / €558.
