Rumors from the past few days suggested that HTC would unveil the upcoming One A9s on September 1, and it seems that they were right. During IFA 2016, HTC unveiled the successor to last year’s One A9, the HTC One A9s.

The HTC One A9s is a mid-range smartphone that doesn’t really come with any impressive specs and keeps the same design as its predecessor, but with minor differences. Firstly, HTC removed the logo from the front of the handset, right above the home button. Secondly, the company also changed the position of the rear camera from center to the side, but we already knew that from images that leaked a few days ago.

The specs of the HTC One A9s are quite different from its predecessor. Specifically, the One A9s comes with a 5-inch Super LCD 720p screen compared to the 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display on the other device, according to Android Central. The One A9s runs a MediaTek Helio P10 processor with an octa-core Cortex A53 SoC clocked at 2.0GHz and a Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processing unit.

Last year’s model was powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor with Adreno 405 GPU. There are some similarities between the two devices when it comes to RAM capacity and internal storage. Thus, they come in two variants - one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and the other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard memory. Availability of these two models depends on the region.

HTC One A9s comes with a 2,300mAh battery and 13MP rear camera

HTC One A9s also comes with a microSD slot for expanding memory to up to 2T and a rear camera of 13MP with F/2.2 aperture and 1080p video recording. Front camera capacity reaches 5MP, and the smartphone comes with NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, and a 2300mAh battery.

The smartphone has a full metal body, and it might be made available on October 14, as the renders would suggest. There aren’t any details on pricing yet, but considering its specs, it should have a lower price tag compared to last year’s HTC One A9, which had a $499 launch price.
