As expected, Taiwanese handset maker HTC has just taken the wraps off its new mid-range Android smartphone, the One A9.

HTC One A9 will be available in two versions though customers in the United States will only have the option to purchase one of them.

The good news is HTC One A9 will be available in the US across multiple carriers and retailers while the unlocked version will sell via HTC's online store.

The unlocked edition of HTC One A9 will also allow users to unlock the bootloader without voiding the warranty.

In addition, the smartphone will come with 6 months of unlimited music on Google Play Music and UH OH Protection, which includes one free replacement within the first 12 months of ownership for a cracked screen, water damage or carrier switch.

HTC One A9 will be available in different color options such as Opal Silver and Carbon Gray, but two other versions will be released in the coming weeks: Deep Garnet and Topaz Gold. Keep in mind, though, that carriers reserve the right to one or both of the initial color versions of the HTC One A9.

Some accessories will be available too

HTC One A9 is now available for pre-order for a special, limited-time promotional price of $400 outright via HTC online store.

Along with the phone's announcement, HTC confirmed it would launch several accessories for the One A9. For example, the HTC Dot View II case will be available in Obsidian, Deep Garnet, Sea Coral and Turquoise Blue.

These accessories will be available for purchase worldwide, both at retailers and in HTC's online store starting November 2015.

“HTC is a smartphone pioneer, having delivered the first Android smartphone, the first Windows smartphone, the first 4G smartphone, and the first all-metal smartphone. Today we’re taking that heritage of innovation to the next level, unveiling a phone that stands apart in a market increasingly dominated by a company which controls every aspect of your phone.

“The HTC One A9 breaks from this trend by offering an incredible design, fantastic performance, cutting-edge software features and the freedom to take full control of your smartphone experience,” said Cher Wang, chairwoman and CEO, HTC.
