HTC might soon roll out its latest mid-ranger

Remember HTC hosted a press event on September 29, which incidentally was the same date Google rolled out Android 6.0 Marshmallow and its two, new Nexus phones.

Prior to the event, we were anticipating the Taiwanese device maker would roll out the much-rumored One A9 model into the wild, but as it turned out, HTC only unveiled a new variant of the One M9+ called the Aurora Edition.

However, we still have hopes that the One A9 is in the pipeline and will be unveiled soon. Here’s some proof. @OnLeaks recently posted on its Twitter account a batch of images revealing a One A9 dummy unit.

While it was initially anticipated that the One A9 would be a high-end product, it soon became apparent that the device would actually be launched as mid-ranger.

Rumored HTC One A9 specs

According to the leaked information we currently have at our disposal, the One A9 should make a debut online with a 5-inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels and 441ppi.

A Snapdragon 617 processor will probably sit underneath the hood of the phone, featuring an octa-core CPU with Adreno 405 GPU and 2GB of RAM. HTC will throw in 16GB of build-in storage, but luckily there’s a microSD card slot for memory expansion.

The main camera is of a 13MP variety and is said to come equipped with OIS (optical image stabilization) on the back plus the controversial 4MP Ultrapixel camera (once offered as main camera on HTC flagships).

The phone will be supported by a pretty average 2,150 mAh battery. It should also have a fingerprint scanner embedded in the home button living up front. Android 6.0 Marshmallow will come pre-installed out of the box.

We also know that the One A9 will be a metal-clad device that will be offered in six different colors. As we’ve seen before and is pretty evident from the dummy unit pictures, the phone borrows quite a lot from the look of the iPhone 6.

HTC will be hosting a media event on October 20, so we have to assume the One A9 is finally slated for release during that date. The phone is expected to make it out on the market in November.
