14 DAY TRIAL // HTC and Google are heavily working on two new Nexus smartphones, which have been leaking in images for some time now. The release date is unknown at this point, but fresh renders of the Nexus Sailfish seem to suggest that it won't be long until Google finally unveils the upcoming handsets.
Nexus Sailfish has a smaller display compared to Nexus Marlin, and new leaked renders show off its front, back, and side design. Both phones will have a similar design, with the Marlin being larger than the Sailfish. Some have said that HTC recycled the design of its flagship HTC 10 for the upcoming Nexus phones, and there clearly are some similarities, especially when it comes to the front bezels.
The new images have shown up on Weibo (via Android Pure), and they reveal that the smartphone will come with a dual look on the back, part of the back panel will have a textured pattern while the other section will have a metallic finish. The Nexus Sailfish should come with a USB Type-C port, bottom facing speakers, and a 3.5mm audio jack, the leaked images suggest.
The pictures also show that Nexus Sailfish will feature the Nexus Launcher pre-installed. The G tab that replaces the Google Search Widget is visible on the home screen. Navigation bars have stayed the same, but Google has removed the app drawer icon on the home screen and has made some changes inside the app drawer.
The smartphone could run Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box
Rumors about the Nexus Sailfish leaked a while ago, and they suggest that the handset could sport a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and pack Snapdragon 820, together with 4GB of RAM.
In addition, it could draw power from a 2,770mAh battery and have 32GB of internal memory, together with a 12MP rear camera and 8MP selfie snapper on the front. Nexus Sailfish could come in multiple color variants.
Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish could be released this month or the next with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box, but that remains to be seen.
