HTC’s phone business is traversing a shaky period. The company launched its flagship product, the One M9, during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this March, but the phone failed to inspire customers.

Still, HTC is not giving up on building mobile phones, and after apologizing to investors for the poor sales figures, the company promised a “Hero” product that would hopefully salvage what's left to be salvaged.

Well, while we wait on that, we’ll bring you some fresh information about the HTC Desire 728, which surfaced in the Chinese website TEENA last month. Now the device pops up again in the rumor mill, this time in the form of a few live pictures showing the phone being handled (as spotted at Anzhuo).

As it appears, the HTC Desire 728 will sport smaller top and bottom bezels than what we’re usually used to seeing on HTC handsets. And as you can spot in the images, it seems like the Desire 728 will be a dual-SIM device, as we were previously told.

HTC Desire 728 will probably come with dual front-facing speakers in tow

The unannounced handset should arrive with a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution, but we’re not told whether there’s any Corning Gorilla Glass involved in the equation. Still, we know the screen features 267 ppi (pixel per inch).

The phone should take advantage of a MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz fitted with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage (expandable via microSD card slot).

As for photography, the Desire 728 features a 13MP rear camera plus a 5MP selfie shooter. Life on board the phone is maintained by a 2,800 mAh battery, and Android 5.1 Lollipop is the default operating system (with HTC’s Sense 7 UI plastered on top).

The dimensions of the phone have also been confirmed as being 157.9 x 77.8 x 7.87 mm / 6.21 x 3.06 x 0.3 inches. We can also tell you the handset breaks the scales at 150 g / 0.33 lbs.

At this moment in time, it seems like the Desire 728 will be a China-exclusive phone, so in all probability, we won’t see the model make a debut on the international market. So, China outsiders will just have to wait for the “Hero” product.
