14 DAY TRIAL // HTC announced the Desire 650 low-end Android smartphone back in December, but the company confirmed the devices would be exclusively available in Taiwan, its home turf.
In a surprising move, the handset maker has announced recently that the HTC Desire 650 will be available globally starting February. According to Pocket-lint, the Desire 650 will go on sale in the UK sometime next month.
There's no word on price yet, but we do know the smartphone will be exclusively available in Dark Blue color at O2, while the rest of UK carriers will get the Lime Light version of the Desire 650.
While the smartphone will most likely be available for free on various carrier contracts, we're expecting the retail price not to go over the €200 threshold in Europe, but we'll probably learn more in the coming weeks. In Taiwan, the Desire 650 has been priced for sale at $170 outright.
If you haven't read our previous report about the HTC Desire 650, here is a quick rundown of its main features. First of all, the smartphone ships with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.
The phone is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable memory (up to 2TB). The entry level smartphone packs HTC's BoomSound audio technology and features dual-front speakers.
HTC Desire 650 sports a 5-inch display that supports HD (720p) resolution. There's also a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which features BSI (backside illumination) and LED flash, while in the front the phone packs a secondary 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.
It's also worth mentioning the Desire 650 is powered by a 2,200 mAh battery and offers LTE support, along with 3.5mm audio jack and microUSB 2.0. No fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C port for this one, though.
