The update will initially be rolled out in Europe

If you happen to own an HTC 10 smartphone, then you'll be pleased to know that the Taiwanese company plans to launch the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update in the coming weeks.

According to well-known HTC leakster @LlabTooFeR, HTC is still working on the update and is expected to start the rollout in late November or early December. It's also worth mentioning that the update will be initially deployed in Europe, but other countries will follow soon.

The HTC 10 won't be the only smartphone to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat update in the next couple of months. The same source notes that the HTC One M9 will get the update as well, but that will most likely happen after the HTC 10 gets updated.

The Android 7.0 Nougat update for the HTC One M9 is still under testing and won't be ready until late December or early January next year.

It's possible that other HTC smartphones will receive the Nougat update next year, but the 10 and One M9 will be the first to get it.

In the past, HTC was among the first handset makers to offer major Android OS updates, along with Motorola. Unfortunately, this is the first time that the Taiwanese company misses the 3-month deadline it usually gives itself for the release of an important Android update.

HTC has been pretty busy these months with the launch of Google's Pixel phones. The Taiwanese company is a pure contractor for the Pixel devices, so it did not contribute with anything else other than its manufacturing line to the launch of Google's devices.

The good news is HTC has plenty of time to plan its flagship smartphone, which is supposed to be revealed after the Mobile World Congress scheduled to begin in late February.

Let's hope that by the time HTC 11, or whatever its name, gets launched on the market, many HTC smartphones will have received the Android 7.0 Nougat update.
