Upgrade or download the latest patches, the company says

Now that Windows 10 is out, many users are looking into third-party software in order to protect their computers and make sure they stay away from malware and other types of infections, but surprisingly, Kaspersky's solutions don't seem to work on a number of systems.

Windows Defender, which comes pre-installed on Windows 10, is believed to be a security app that provides only the most basic protection to a computer, so it's no surprise that so many users turn to third-party apps.

But in Kaspersky's case, when upgrading from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10, a number of apps stop working due to what seem to be compatibility issues.

According to company reps, all those who are experiencing issues with Kaspersky software need to download and install patch C or a newer patch for their security product. Otherwise, a number of issues might be experienced.

Software limitations on Windows 10

Kaspersky says some limitations might be experienced with a number of modules, including system memory scan, protection against screen lockers, system watcher, safe money, and application control.

“When you upgrade Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 to Windows 10 on a computer with Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 installed or install Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 on Windows 10, on first startup Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 will run the adaptation process (in the meantime, protection will be paused). After the process has been completed, protection will resume, however, the Webcam Access component will be permanently unavailable,” Kaspersky says.

But as long as you install the latest patches available for your product, everything should be working fine, although we're hearing from users that some compatibility issues are still being experienced.

As far as business products are concerned, Kaspersky says that it's already working with Microsoft to address compatibility issues and a release will be launched in a few months.

“We are cooperating with Microsoft to ensure the smooth transition of our business security solutions to the new operating system. We plan to release the version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security compatible with Windows 10 Enterprise before December 2015,” the company said.

As usual, the latest versions of the apps can be found on Softpedia, so if you're already running Windows 10 you might want to download Kaspersky Antivirus, Kaspersky Internet Security, and Kaspersky Total Security right away.
