Guerrilla Games appreciates the challenge, however

Guerrilla Games, the Dutch studio behind the popular Killzone first-person shooter series confirms that working on its next big project, Horizon Zero Dawn, is even more challenging than completing Killzone: Shadow Fall in time for the PS4's launch back in November of 2013.

Guerrilla Games has made a name for itself with the solid Killzone releases, launching games across the PS2, PS3, or even PS4 platforms. However, with the next major project, in the form of Horizon Zero Dawn, the studio is going into a whole new direction.

The title, which was finally revealed at E3 2015 last summer, is an open world action adventure experience that's less about shooting and more about exploring and fighting giant mechanized dinosaurs.

Working on the new game is more challenging than Shadow Fall

While talking about the current situation at Guerrilla Games, Managing Director Hermen Hulst confirms that working on Horizon Zero Dawn is more challenging than even bringing Killzone: Shadow Fall to the PS4 in time for the console's actual launch.

Hulst mentions to GamesRadar that the team is going into some bold new directions, and while things are quite difficult to accomplish, the whole staff is excited about the upcoming game.

"After we shipped Killzone: Shadow Fall, and we’d been through the hoopla of doing a launch title, I thought that was going to be the toughest thing we’d ever do. It pales in comparison to this. This is so much more challenging on the team in every single way. But I find that doing something that is this refreshing, and that is supported so strongly by the development team, is probably even more important to the success of a title than how far you are out of your comfort zone," he says.

Horizon Zero Dawn hasn't received any other details, except the fact that it will launch exclusively for the PS4 and that its protagonist, Aloy, will dismantle tropes relating to feminine protagonists in action games.
