Honor is one of Huawei's subsidiaries, and the company has unveiled some affordable and powerful smartphones over the past few years, including the Honor 5X and Honor 8 earlier this year. Today, the company has introduced two new devices, the Honor 5 and Honor Note 8, according to Android Headlines.

Honor 5 is a mid-range smartphone that falls into the same category as the Honor 5X, as the two devices have similar specs. The Honor 5 comes with a 5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel resolution display, together with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD card.

The phone runs MediaTek’s MT6735P 64-bit quad-core processor, coupled with Mali-T720 graphics processing unit. In addition, rear camera capacity features 8MP while the front selfie snapper has a 2MP capacity.

The handset draws power from a 2,200mAh battery and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has two SIM card slots and measures 143.8 x 72. X 8.9mm while its weight reaches 138 grams. By comparison, the rear camera on the Honor 5X is more powerful at 13MP, and the device has a larger battery of 3,000mAh and a display of 5.5 inches.

Honor Note 8 will be available starting August 9 in China

Information on the Honor Note 8 has been leaking in the past few days, and some of the phablet's specs have been confirmed today. The Honor Note 8 sports a larger 6.6-inch QHD 2.5D curved display and provides 4GB of RAM. It comes in multiple internal storage variants, namely 32GB, 64GB or 128GB, with the option to expand to more.

In addition, the phablet runs Kirin 955 64-bit octa-core processor, coupled with Mali T880-MP4 graphics processing unit. Rear camera capacity reaches 13MP with OIS shooter and f/2.0 aperture, while an 8MP unit is featured on the front.

It draws power from a 4,500mAh battery and comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back. Connectivity options include 4G LTE with VoLTE, and the smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei's Emotion UI on top. It measures 178.8 x 90.9 x 7.18mm and weighs 219 grams.

Honor 5 is available in white, black, and gold color variants for approximately $90, starting August 2, in China. Honor Note 8 will come in Gray, Silver, and Gold options, while its price starts at $346. You may also want to know that the phablet will go on sale on August 9.
