Honor 8 is the brand’s first dual-camera smartphone and it seems that it might also be the first to receive the Android Nougat update. Honor has confirmed that the phone will be receiving an update to the latest Android OS version in February next year.

Honor 8 users won’t have to wait long until their phones receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat and the new EMUI 5.0 UI on top. Beta testers have been enjoying the Nougat Beta on their Honor 8 and it seems that the company is almost ready to make the new version available to all.

EMUI 5.0 will be coming with new optimizations and functionality features, aside from security improvements for the Honor 8. The UI will allow users to run different profiles in parallel, thus helping them better manage their professional and personal lives on a single phone.

The new UI will also include machine learning capabilities, which will take the user’s behavior into account and prioritize most used apps. This will result in optimized processing resources and thus improved performance on the phone. Presumably, the new UI will have the capacity to learn the user’s behavior on both of the parallel profiles and suggest apps based on profile characteristics.

Moreover, Honor has announced that the EMUI 5.0 will have improved flexibility when it comes to security and will offer an App Lock feature for restricting access to apps containing personal data.

Last but not least, the EMUI 5.0 will be coming with a more advanced power management system, containing multiple preset battery saving modes for managing the device’s power consumption. Power saving modes will surely come in handy for optimizing the 3,000mAh battery on the phone and managing processes for the Kirin 950 CPU with 4GB of RAM. Honor 8 also comes with a 5.2-inch 1080p display and a fingerprint scanner on the back.
