HMD Global is preparing to hold a press event during MWC and announce a number of new phones. According to Venture Beat’s sources, Nokia fans can expect the company to announce three smartphones and a modern version of the unbreakable 3310.

Nokia 6 isn’t necessarily a new phone, as the device was announced a few weeks ago in China, where it was part of several flash sales that ended in record time. Its affordable price of about $264 (€249) and 5.5-inch full HD display, SD430 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 16MP rear camera made the phone very popular in China.

The smartphone is available in a few more countries, but after the MWC 2017 announcement, it will start hitting stores in Europe as well.

Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 will have lower specs than Nokia 6

The other two smartphones pegged for unveiling later this month have lower specs and prices compared to Nokia 6. The report says that the Nokia 5 will cost about $211 (€199) and have just 2GB of RAM, a 5.2-inch display with 720p resolution, and a rear camera of 12MP. The difference in price between the two phones will be of about $53 (€50).

NPU says that Nokia 5 is none other than the rumored Nokia Heart and will run a 1.4GHz quad-core Snapdragon 430 SoC and have 16GB of internal storage, with an 8MP camera in the front. It will run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Nokia 3 will have an even lower price and will fall into the category of entry-level smartphones. For $158 (€149), Nokia 3 (or Nokia E1 as per previous leaks) will offer lower performance. The E1 was rumored to come with a 5.2-inch or 5.3-inch display with HD resolution, 1.4GHz quad-core SD425 SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of memory. It might have a 13MP camera on the back and 5MP in the front.

Modern version of Nokia 3310 will cost about $63

The market offers plenty of alternatives for these three phones, which is why the new iteration of Nokia 3310 is the most exciting phone to be announced during the press event. The new handset is said to feature a price tag of $63 (€59) and we expect it to offer a plentiful battery life and a very resistant build, elements that 3310 fans still praise nearly 17 years after its initial launch.

Almost 128 million Nokia 3310 were sold worldwide, making it one of the most successful phones ever. We’ll have to wait until February 26 to see HMD Global’s new iteration of the 3310, but if key characteristics are kept, this could be a very efficient second phone for many, which is what the company is betting on.
