14 DAY TRIAL // The HMD Global company from Finland is said to announce the first Nokia-branded smartphones in February 2017, during the Mobile World Congress (MWC). The company is reportedly cooperating with supply chain makers in Taiwan for developing four new models to launch in the second and third quarters of next year.
Digitimes has recently reported that the four new models will have display sizes ranging from 5.0 to 5.7 inches and Full HD resolutions, according to sources. The report says that panel suppliers are LG Display, Century Technology (CTC), and Innolux. It seems that FIH Mobile will serve as a production partner for the upcoming phones.
HMD Global did recently announce that it would launch Nokia smartphones that focus on innovation, quality and experience.
The first Nokia-branded smartphone to be presented by HMD at MWC will most likely be the Nokia D1C, said to be made available in two versions, with differences when it comes to the amount of memory and display size.
Nokia D1C phones could come with 16GB internal storage
Rumors say that the higher-priced version of the two D1C phone variants will cost about $200 and incorporate 3GB of RAM and a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The smartphone is also said to run a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and have 16GB of internal storage, which could be expanded using a microSD card. It could also have a 16MP camera on the back.
The other variant will carry a price tag of about $150 and have 2GB of RAM and a 5-inch Full HD display. It’s said to have a rear camera capacity of 13MP and the same Snapdragon 430 processor. The two Nokia D1C smartphones are expected to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. More details about the phones will surely be provided during their presentation event at the Mobile World Congress trade fair in February 2017.
