Video game developer IO Interactive and publisher Square Enix are ready to offer a first look at the exclusive content for the coming Hitman video game that they plan to offer on the PlayStation 4 home console while delivering some more hints about the overall structure of the narrative featured in the title.

Travis Barbour, who handles community relations at the studio, explains on the official PS Blog that the newly launched trailer is designed to give players a look at the world of violence, power, assassinations, and luxury that they will be able to explore and how it is connected with the past of the franchise.

IO Interactive wants to use the episodic structure of the new Hitman to deliver an interesting experience that explores individual situations while also offering bigger story arcs that involved Agent 47, the ICA, Diana Burnwood, and a new cast of interesting characters.

Barbour adds, "The structure is inspired by contemporary TV series’ and will unfold over multiple seasons. To begin with, the overall story and the individual mission stories run in parallel, but as the first season progresses, the tracks will merge and become one."

Gamers who get the title for the PlayStation 4 will be able to play through a special set of missions called The Sarajevo Six, bonus contracts that explore narratives associated with a paramilitary organization called CICADA.

When Hitman launches on March 11, gamers who explore it on the Sony home console will be able to take out The Director, aka Scott Sarno, who is the director of European operations for the group and has been linked to operations gone wrong in both Europe and the Middle East.

The development team wants the extra contracts to offer a real challenge, and the first target is both observant and protected by a group of powerful bodyguards, which will make it harder for Agent 47 to take him out.

Hitman launches a beta on February 12

The testing period associated with the title will also be offered on the PlayStation 4 first, accessible to all those who pre-order the Full Experience, The Collector's Edition or the Intro Pack.

The beta will be used to show gamers some of the core mechanics of the title and to test the infrastructure that powers it, although it's unclear exactly how many missions gamers will be able to explore.

Hitman will be launched on March 11 on the PC, the Xbox One, and the PlayStation 4, and the initial package will include a prologue and a Paris location that will feature a range of contracts for gamers to complete.

In both April and May, new cities and the content associated with them will be added, and before the end of the year, IO Interactive is aiming to also introduce missions that take place in Japan, the United States of America, and Thailand.

To keep the community engaged, the studio is also planning to deliver a range of free updates that will continue to offer both tweaks to the mechanics and events for the fans to take part in.
