14 DAY TRIAL // Windows 10 Mobile is improving quite nicely, and although build 14327 doesn’t bring as many features as the previous versions, it’s still a step in the right direction, given the fact that it fixes a plethora of bugs and optimizes performance for insiders.
And in addition to the two major feature additions presented by Microsoft in the original announcement (the Messaging everywhere option that allows you to text from your PC and Cortana in more languages), this new build comes with a few hidden gems that can really improve the experience you get on Windows 10 Mobile.
App update notifications
This is a feature that we already knew was coming, but it’s clearly a good thing to have it back. Now every time you update apps through the store, you also get a notification in the Action Center to let you know about this and keep track of everything running on your device.
As MSPU notes, this functionality was first available in Windows Phone 8.1, but for some reason, Microsoft removed it when launching Windows 10 Mobile, so by bringing it back, Microsoft proves that it’s listening to user feedback and trying to improve the platform based on their suggestions.
Swipe to delete text messages
Since messaging has always been a key feature of any platform out there, Microsoft is trying to improve it as much as possible, so build 14327 brings some improvements in this regard too.
Starting with this version, users are allowed to delete messages by simply swiping left in the list of conversations, in the same way you do on iOS and Android (or in Outlook, if you prefer). NPU explains that, when removing messages, Windows 10 Mobile also offers an option to undo it, just in case you deleted an item by mistake.
Wi-Fi Hotspot 2.0
Also a feature that we know was on its way, so it’s not so surprising to see it implemented in this build, but definitely a helpful addition for insiders. Wi-Fi Hotspot, whose configuration is now available in the settings screen, is available in build 14327 to let you move from one hotspot to another on a certain network without requiring users to re-authenticate every time.
Keep in mind that these features are still in preview form right now, but should be part of the Anniversary Update when it launches in the summer.
