14 DAY TRIAL // After confirming the next batch of characters coming to Heroes of the Storm, Blizzard now reveals some actual gameplay details about Kharazim, Rexxas, and Artanis, as well as some screenshots with the first two heroes and the upcoming Infernal Shrines map.
Heroes of the Storm is Blizzard's entry in the competitive multiplayer online battle arena genre, and ever since its final version release in June, the title has managed to win over many different fans. In order to keep them interested, Blizzard has kept on releasing new heroes, maps, and features via free updates.
At Gamescom 2015 yesterday, the studio revealed not one but three new characters coming to Heroes of the Storm, alongside a new map called Infernal Shrines.
New gameplay details and screenshots showcase upcoming content
Now, on its official website, the studio shares some actual gameplay details about Kharazim and Rexxas, not to mention the Internal Shrines battleground, while referencing Artanis, the StarCraft 2 warrior that will also arrive in the future.
First up, there's Kharazim, the male monk character from Diablo 3. Blizzard confirms that, at the beginning of a match, players can take the hero into multiple directions by choosing one of three traits. These include Iron Fists, which gives him bonus attack damage, Transcendence to heal himself via melee combat, or Insight, to restore mana and balance both offensive and defensive roles.
Rexxar, the Warcraft hunter that's quite familiar to Hearthstone players, brings into battle his loyal bear, Misha. He's a ranged warrior that can use the bear to harass enemies, absorb damage, and stun enemies.
Artanis is still a bit far from release but Blizzard teases that he'll sport heavy hitting abilities that should make him popular with those who like to get up close and personal with enemies.
The Infernal Shrines map is themed around Diablo 3 and features three shrines for each map. Players can activate them and try to defeat the guardians. If they're successful, a powerful Punisher will spawn with one of three affixes, in the form of Arcane, Frozen, or Mortar. They'll hunt down enemy heroes, while pushing the lane closest to their shrine.
You can check out screenshots with the new map and characters below. As of yet, it's unclear when they'll launch for Heroes of the Storm, so expect to hear more soon enough.
