Fancy, casual and common... until you notice the 4K screen

Toshiba's Satellite Radius series isn't something new, in fact it's not even entirely Toshiba either since it pretty much copies the 360 degrees tilt screen from the Lenovo Yoga.

However, while Lenovo keeps going with its established tradition of selling Yoga Laptops with a full 360 degrees screen tilt, Toshiba's latest satellite series comes and ups the ante by bringing a 12.5-inch 4K touchscreen into a compact convertible that measures a scant 0.6 inches in thickness and weighs 2.9 pounds.

When Lenovo sells almost the same Yogas with 1080p display, Toshiba's laptop goes further in the same form factor, an equally new, equally powerful (both carrying the 6th generation Skylakes) and equally light laptop.

Additionally, similarly to Lenovo's latest models, the new Satellite laptops will come with Intel-powered Windows Hello facial recognition software that will help users activate their operating system based on having their face scanned by the laptop's camera.

The 4K screen will make or break the new Satellite

Although the pixel density in Toshiba's latest Satellite series seems pretty impressive, it won't do the 12" screen much service since the screen size is not really the recommended size for such enormous resolutions. This way, from a practical point of view, it can be regarded as an artificial method of inflating the price of the device without any actual and radical difference compared to 1080p screens.

Unfortunately, there are no in-detail specs about the new Satellite 12 laptop series, nor any sort of price availability, but it's clear that, once this device is done right, with no obvious graphical corruptions given how Windows 10 will be ported on the pixel-dense screen, this new laptop could easily become a favorite among portable enthusiasts.

The battery life issue is also worth mentioning. Since it doesn't carry any protruding battery pack or some extremely large energy source, it's unlikely it will keep that 4K monitor operating a complete full-day cycle.

If Toshiba manages to impress the public when it launches that, it will surely have an interested public to cater to.
