Not entirely surprising but fun watch nevertheless

Well, Apple Watch and TV aren't devices made for gaming, certainly not Apple Watch. But this hasn't stopped Facebook developers Lior Tubi and Mehdi Mulani to perform a 10-hour hackathon and get Doom to run on a watchOS 2-enabled Apple Watch.

Not entirely surprising, since what people needed back in the day to run Doom, a full desktop PC, now fits nicely at your wrist. The way the team managed to port the game on a watchOS 2 doesn't fail to impress, however. It doesn't hurt admitting that the new watchOS helped them as well a little, since apps now work natively on the watch instead of having to offload processing duties to a connected iPhone. This way the whole experience gets much smoother.

The team decided to port the simplest version of Doom available, the nDoom. The version is so barebones that it manages to run on graphing calculators as well, so it shouldn't have any issues running on a watch.

As for the Apple TV, the whole effort has been a lot simpler since the hardware is much more potent, and it also uses a remote control which makes the game fully playable, unlike the way it runs on the Apple Watch. Yet, the plan wasn't to make the game playable on the Watch, but to actually make it work on it. And they did it!
