We’ve already told you that Windows 10 Mobile Redstone is expected to bring new live tile animations in future builds, and thanks to a video published online recently, we can finally take a closer look at what these animations are going to look like when they get the go-ahead.

Windows 10 Mobile Redstone builds have been mostly about fixing bugs and improving performance until now, with the latest PC version released earlier today actually being the first to bring a new set of features as part of the Redstone branch.

But according to people with knowledge of the matter, the next Redstone builds for Windows 10 Mobile will bring improvements too, and new live tiles animations are very likely to be included.

Fade in and fade out effects for live tiles

A video posted by WindowsMania shows that Microsoft is indeed working to make live tile resizing a little bit more eye-appealing, and fade in/fade out effects are already being tested. Furthermore, it’s believed that the company could also refine the transition from Start to the app list, and a future Redstone build could bring changes in this regard as well.

Certainly, these kinds of improvements do come in handy, especially because they enhance the behavior of live tiles, which continue to be one of the key features of Windows 10 Mobile. The only thing that Microsoft needs to be careful with, however, is the speed of these animations, as visual effects could easily make the operating system feel slow if they take too much time to complete.

At this point, it’s not known when these animations could arrive in Redstone builds for insiders, but since work is already underway, we should get them sometime in the next few weeks. A new mobile build is expected in just a few days, but it remains to be seen if this will be a Redstone version or a cumulative update for 10586.
