Even though Nokia has already announced it has reached an agreement with a German consortium of carmakers for the sale of its HERE maps business, that doesn't mean the application won't be getting any updates until the deal is closed.

In this regard, HERE Maps developers have just announced that a new version of its Android application is now available for download in Google Play Store.

Along with the release of HERE Maps version 1.1.1031, developers also unveiled all the new features and improvements included in the newest update.

The first thing worth mentioning in regards with the latest update for HERE Maps is the addition of “context sensitive menu.”

“Long-press contextual menu to the HERE for Android app. Without leaving the map screen, or having to choose a series of commands, you can now get information about places, share them, get directions or start navigation,” the developers explain.

The update is highly recommended for Android users

Also, the update also makes it possible for the Android application to display intermediate stops on transit routes. According to HERE devs, the new addition is a graduate from the beta program.

The new feature will allow users to understand how long the journey will take by knowing the stops to look out for. Moreover, this feature is supposed to help users know exactly where they need to make a transfer or exit.

Keep in mind that this feature is only available in some cities, but more regions will be added in the coming months.

Last but not least, HERE Maps developers confirmed the update should also bring the usual bug fixes and some under-the-hood optimizations meant to improve the app's performance even further.

You can now download HERE Maps for Android for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.1 and up.
