14 DAY TRIAL // New tests performed by security institute AV-TEST in August provide us with a closer look at the efficiency of today’s antivirus solutions, and after revealing the top security products for consumers, the official results provide us with a quick glimpse into the performance of business programs.
First and foremost, it’s important to note that AV-TEST analyzed antivirus solutions in the same three tests as consumer products, namely protection, performance, and usability. And unsurprisingly, companies that topped consumer tests are taking the first places in the business environment too, with Bitdefender and Kaspersky scoring the maximum number of points.
Both Bitdefender and Kaspersky security products aimed at business users on Windows 7 received 6 out of 6 points for each of the three tests, reaching a total of 18 points. Trend Micro is also part of the elite, with 6 points for protection and usability and 5.5 points for performance.
Symantec’s enterprise solutions also performed quite well, as they received 6 points for protection, 5 points for performance, and 6 points for usability, while AVG was pretty close too with 5.5 points in each test.
Microsoft performance in enterprise tests
If you are looking for Microsoft products, you shouldn’t, because Redmond’s security products got the same results as in the consumer tests. The only difference is that business clients are more likely to pay for advanced antivirus protection, so these results aren’t really encouraging.
Specifically, Microsoft got only 3.5 points for protection, which means that it let slip an important share of malware, but on the other hand, it received 5 points for performance, so it’s quite friendly with system resources. In terms of usability, Microsoft is doing well, having obtained 5.5 points.
In the end, it’s very clear that the antivirus market continues to be dominated pretty much by the same companies, so it shouldn’t be too hard to choose a product that can provide advanced protection for your PC.
