14 DAY TRIAL // We're just one day away from the official unveil of the Huawei Mate 9 and the first photo samples taken with the smartphone's dual-camera setup have just been published online.
The Mate 9 is rumored to come with a combination of 20MP + 12MP cameras on the rear side, which is a consistent improvement over Huawei's previous flagship, the P9. Huawei P9 boasts two 12MP cameras on the back, and so is the P9 Plus.
The camera samples have been compressed and posted on Weibo, the Chinese alternative to Facebook, so we can't really tell how the cameras fare against other flagships like Samsung Galaxy S7, Google Pixel XL, or Apple iPhone 7 Plus.
The dual-camera setup on the Mate 9 is the result of the collaboration between Huawei and Leica, so we expect the smartphone to come with some advanced features accessible via the camera app.
The most recent press renders leaked earlier this week confirm that the Mate 9 will indeed feature Leica camera lens. Other than that, there's no point in making any assumptions based on these samples.
The dual-camera setup is not the only powerful piece of hardware inside the Mate 9 if we are to believe any of the previous rumors that leaked some of the phone's specs. We expect the phablet to boast a large 5.9-inch display that supports either full HD (1080p) or Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
Another major improvement over the P9 is the powerful Kirin 960 chipset inside the Mate 9. The SoC (system on chip) has been recently announced by Huawei and represents the company's highest achievements in the industry.
We also know that Huawei Mate 9 will ship with Android 7.0 Nougat right out of the box. Although the smartphone will be announced tomorrow, November 3, the phablet might not be available for purchase this week, especially considering the fact that the Mate 9 will be introduced in China on November 14.
