Dame Helen Mirren is one of the most respected actresses in the industry, but also a very popular celebrity. These two are not mutually exclusive, of course, but it’s rare to find them both in an actress who is 70 years old, mostly because women in Hollywood tend to have a much shorter shelf-life than their male counterparts.

Part of Mirren’s appeal is her impressive talent and versatility, but her openness and honesty on all topics, her humor and her smarts also helped her to become one of the hottest celebrities in showbiz. Her willingness to show skin on camera didn’t hurt either.

Well, you can forget about that last part: in a new interview cited by Vanity Fair, Mirren says she’s done with on-screen nudity for good. She did it when she was younger because she didn’t think it meant anything and those were the times, but she won’t be doing it anymore.

“That’s the good thing about getting old. You don’t have to do that sort of thing anymore. My pleasure pillows are purely for my husband now,” she laughs.

She namedrops the HBO series “Game of Thrones” for making nudity less scandalous, like it was back when she did “Caligula.”

Speaking of, GoT is often criticized for what some critics deem its gratuitous explicit nature, an accusation that those working on it have often countered by saying that it isn’t gratuitous but true to that fictional universe. It might be excessive, but it’s not gratuitous.
