14 DAY TRIAL // Blizzard's hugely successful Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft online collectible card game is set to receive its latest and greatest expansion next week, on August 24, worldwide, in the form of The Grand Tournament. 132 new cars and many other features are included in the sprawling add-on.
Hearthstone launched last year in its final version, and since then, the online game has proven to be a huge hit for developer Blizzard. While the title is free to play, the microtransactions for extra cards, new cosmetic items, and other such things have generated a huge profit for the company.
At the same time, the studio has also kept releasing premium expansions, not to mention free updates with major mechanics, like the recent Tavern Brawl game mode.
The Grand Tournament kicks off on August 24 and brings many new things
Now, the latest and greatest expansion for Hearthstone, The Grand Tournament, has just received a release date of August 24, worldwide, according to the official website. At that time, Hearthstone players will be able to acquire the major add-on's new cards as part of special packs in the in-game store. You're still able to pre-purchase the add-on right now and score extra goodies.
The Grand Tournament brings a whopping 132 all-new cards inspired by World of Warcraft's Argent Tournament event. Some intriguing ones can boost your Hero Power ability and others can even augment them permanently for that match.
Many of these cards will boast a special ability called Inspire, which triggers when a player uses his or her Hero Power. These Inspire effects cause boosts in attack, health, or many other surprising things.
There's also as well as new Deathrattle ability that triggers a virtual joust. This joust reveals a random minion from the hands of the two players. The one with the highest mana cost wins, while the other gets discarded.
