In a post on Google's support page, the company has announced that Hangouts On Air will be moving from Google+ to YouTube Live on September 12. Hangouts On Air was introduced back in 2012, together with multiple features for Hangouts, Google's messaging application.

Google informs us that Hangouts On Air will be moving from Google+ to YouTube Live starting September 12. Users who wish to schedule new Hangouts On Air events will need to use YouTube Live following September 12, and they will have to move existing events set to happen after this date as well.

At the time of its launch in 2012, there weren't many platforms that offered live streaming for users, and Hangouts On Air did enjoy some popularity until Facebook Live and Periscope debuted. In any case, it is important to mention that, with this move, Google removes a feature from the social network, but users will still be able to enjoy the same privacy levels on their broadcasts, including public, private or unlisted.

The Q&A feature in Hangouts On Air will move to Google Slides

Some features found in Hangouts On Air will reportedly be discontinued, and among them are showcase and applause. The Q&A feature will move to Google Slides, and users will be able to create Hangouts On Air events only using YouTube Creator Studio.

Users will need to go to Live Streaming Events in Creator Studio, create a new live event using Google Hangouts On Air and provide a title to the event. There's a Go Live Now feature or the option to schedule events for later.

Google's Hangouts On Air has lost its attractiveness over the years, and the company made some strange decisions when it comes to the application as it provided video messaging features to the iOS version before they arrived on the Android variant of the app.

Nevertheless, Google seems to be focusing on its Duo video-calling app and Allo messaging application, while it has announced that Hangouts will be aimed more at business customers, according to Engadget.
