Halo 5: Guardians is being positioned as a title that offers at least three different core experiences, and in order to satisfy multiplayer fans, the teams at 343 Industries and Microsoft are announcing that they are planning to introduce an all-new version of the Halo World Championship.

The competition will offer 1 million dollars (900,000 Euro) in prizes and is designed to show off the best players that the community has produced, taking place at some point during the winter.

The Arena multiplayer mode in Halo 5: Guardians will be used, specifically designed to create competitive situations and to give fans a lot of ways to watch the action using a new Spectator mode.

Coliseum is one of the maps that will be used for the Halo World Championship, with a symmetrical design, two bases, and a unique mix of sight lines and elevated areas.

The companies adds, "The map’s story harkens back to the first incursions of the Flood into the Forerunners’ outer territories signaled the beginning of a centuries-long war. Although they immediately summoned the full strength of their navy, most Warrior-Servants recognized that this conflict would be won or lost on the ground."

Those who want to see how Halo 5: Guardians looks in a competitive environment can watch the Gamescom Invitational that takes place on Friday, August 7, at the ESL Arena, with a focus on four versus four combat, with the teams involved including Epsilon Esports, Supremecy, CAZ.Esports, and OpTic Gaming.

More partnerships will be announced as the game gets closer to launch

In order to sustain a big eSports ecosystem for the shooter, Microsoft and 343 Industries need to create links with the big organizations in the field, and apparently, information on other leagues and how gamers can reach the new Championship will be announced later in the year.

The multiplayer of Halo 5: Guardians will introduce a lot of changes from the traditional formula of the series, with the Spartans now able to execute a variety of moves that will make the experience more dynamic.

343 Industries is also creating a new Warzone mode, which mixes both Player versus Player and Player versus Environment mechanics.

Halo 5: Guardians will be out on the Xbox One on October 27.
