Video game developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft announce that they want to add more details about the world of Halo with a new animated series that will focus on the Fall of Reach, which is due to be introduced this fall alongside Halo 5: Guardians.

A new lore update on Halo Waypoint features both Frank O'Connor, the director of the studio, and Kiki Wolfkill, the executive producer, offering more details about its content and importance.

The pair explains that Halo: The Fall of Reach - Animated Series manages to deliver the story of one of the most important moments in the history of the franchise to a wider audience, staying faithful to the novel on which it is based while also using the possibilities opened up by the new medium.

Frank O'Connor states, "You’ll see a few differences, choices of Covenant ship, weapons and so on, but it adheres tightly to the core canon, with a few flourishes here and there to fill in gaps or smooth over previous errors."

Both the animation and the store are designed to enhance the impact of the origin story of Master Chief and Blue Team.

Because the internal monologue from the novel will no longer be present, fans will be able to experience a new take on a set of classic moments.

Halo: The Fall of Reach - Animated Series expands the video game experience

Halo 5: Guardians will represent the entry point into the franchise for a variety of new players, who will pick up the title on the Xbox One and might not have experienced the narrative linked to Master Chief before.

The launch of Halo: The Fall of Reach - Animated Series will show the link between the character and Blue Team and will also give players glimpses of other major events.

The development team at 343 Industries and Microsoft are also working on more novels associated with the video game and the Hunt the Truth series will also get a second season in the fall, adding even more lore.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is also getting more updates in order to make sure that it is playable and offers a solid experience for those who play Guardians and then want to experience all the other titles on the Xbox One.

Halo: The Fall of Reach - Animated Series will be out on October 27.
