343 Industries and Microsoft are focused on offering new content for Halo 5: Guardians, but the two companies also want to expand the lore universe associated with the series and one way they will achieve this aim is by adding a new coda to the physical release of the Halo: New Blood novel.

The print version of the book written by Mat Forbeck will arrive on March 15, and gamers will be able to read a new five-page section that introduces a conversion between protagonist Edward Buck and Veronica Dare about the events of the recent video game.

Halo: New Blood focuses on the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers and the new Spartan program that the UNSC is launching when Master Chief goes Missing in Action.

Microsoft has said that it wants to offer both new fiction and more toys associated with the Halo franchise to keep the interest of fans up as it prepares to announce a new title in the franchise, which will probably be delivered in the fall of 2017.

There are no plans to deliver single-player focused downloadable content packs for Halo 5: Guardians, but 343 Industries is planning to add a range of multiplayer updates until the fall, all of them for free.

Ghosts of Meridian is the new planned DLC and the company says that it will arrive at some point in early April and will add maps, a new mode as well as more REQ cards for gamers to use in battle.

Warzone Firefight is coming during summer

The Player versus Environment mode has been requested by the community since Halo 5: Guardians launched and 343 Industries says that it will allow gamers to show off their unique Spartan builds as they seek to battle powerful groups of enemies.

For lore-focused gamers, the studio is also offering a closer lore look at the new rifles that are part of the recent Hammer Storm update, Blood of Suban and River of Light.

343 Industries states, " Lodam Armory would combine their engineering efforts by creating their first fully in-house armor system, the Storm harness, which – along with a Ranger variant based on the same platform – would be employed by Covenant shock troopers carrying out far-flung missions on frontier worlds, and later produced in even higher supply to be exploited by multiple sides of the Sangheili civil war."

The company is planning to deliver more tweaks for the matchmaking system in Halo 5: Guardians so that players can get matches as quickly as possible without getting any unbalanced engagements.
