Halo 5: Guardians is set to receive a wealth of post-launch downloadable content for free from developer 343 Industries, as the studio pledges to debut not just new maps but also fresh content for the REQ system and other such things.

Halo 5: Guardians is set to finally launch at the end of the month, and 343 Industries has already offered a lot of different videos, screenshots, and details about the upcoming first-person shooter, going from the story campaign to the Arena multiplayer or the all-new Warzone mode.

Different DLC is coming to Halo 5 after launch

The studio has, however, also begun to work on the post-launch content for the upcoming game, and Multiplayer Design Director Kevin Franklin tells GamesOnNet that fans should expect fresh goodies for many different aspects of the first-person shooter.

First up, there are the 15 maps that will be released for the game for free after launch. These are offered at no extra charge in order to ensure that the community doesn't get split and that the new maps are actually populated with enough players to make online matches feel right.

However, the studio is also set to bring new things for the REQ (aka Requisition) system, not to mention new modes for the Arena or content for the Warzone. Last but not least, 343 Industries is also working with some of the most successful community members for new maps using the in-game Forge.

"So we have 15 maps we’re committed to right now for post-launch, which will be available to players at no additional cost. And then we have a really, really big plan around new Requisition content, which is going to be coming out post-launch. I’ve been working with the designers on all of our post-launch Arena modes and post-launch Warzone content. And we’re also working with the community really closely to bring in a lot of Forge maps," he explains.

Franklin wasn't able to offer any dates or exact time frames for all the new content, so expect to see and hear more about Halo 5's DLC packs after it launches on October 27 exclusively for the Xbox One console.
