The REQ system is one of the biggest and most controversial additions in Halo 5: Guardians and the development team at 343 Industries is eager to show gamers the kinds of weapons and items that will be offered for the multiplayer side of the video game.

The Oathsword is a mythic power weapon that gamers will be able to get in card packs and it comes with some cool battlefield abilities as well as solid lore, both of which fans of the franchise will appreciate if they find and equip it.

On the Halo Waypoint, gamers can learn about the way Spartan IIs tweak their weaponry and how they can express their personalities using charms and mementos.

343 Industries explains, "The current Oathsworn was not the first, nor will it be the last. Many Oathsworn’s have been abandoned on various battlefields over the years, only to be rebuilt for another battle – another mission. Each one is subtly different, though the markings have remained the same for years. The words whispered while it is carefully rebuilt and tuned change each time, but not the intent."

The weapon will be implemented as a shotgun with increased damage, accuracy and rate of fire which also boost the movement speed of the character that uses it.

The development team also gives players a look at some other cards they will get in REQ packs.

Halo 5: Guardians introduces a lot of multiplayer changes

The equipment that will be delivered via the new system will come in a variety of types and levels of rarity and offers new ways to make a Spartan unique on the battlefield.

They will offer a range of abilities and extra combat power in the Warzone mode for Halo 5: Guardians, which blends Player versus Player with Player versus Environment combat and was influenced by the design of MOBAs.

In the more competitive Arena experience, the REQ-based equipment will only have cosmetic effects in order to make sure that gamers have the same abilities and the results are based purely on skill.

For those not interested in either of the two multiplayer modes, gamers will also be able to take part in Capture the Flag, and a few weeks after launch they will also get access to Big Team Battle and maps associated with it.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on October 27 and can be played only on the Xbox One.
