Halo 5: Guardians is set to allow gamers to explore more of the universe of the science fiction experience than any other title in the series, and the tech that gamers will be able to see in action and play with will deliver a few surprises even to long-term fans.

After offering gamers a chance to see how the vehicles of the Covenant have evolved for the new shooter, the development team at 343 Industries turns its focus on the humans, with an in-depth look at the armor they will be able to deploy in battle.

The new Scorpion, codenamed the M820, is lighter than the older version but has the same firepower and protection from plating, with some of the vehicles using experimental ammunition as well as heavier armor and an upgraded cannon.

For the Mongoose, the developers explain on the official site that "Lovingly dubbed the 'mothergoose' by frontline infantry men and women due to its increased size over the M274, this particular variant shown is Liang Dortmund's heavy-duty modification of the standard M290 ATV. The result is a nimble but rugged Mongoose with extra armor."

A new Gungoose is being deployed, offering gamers a chance to use twin grenade launchers and a rear facing seat where a soldier can deal with a variety of threats.

The Rocket Warthog is designed to take out enemy aircraft and the Gauss Warthog offers area of effect damage, and there are versions which use heavier armor and an upgraded cannon.

Halo 5: Guardians also features a new Banshee

Gamers will be able to use a powerful T-54 Banshee in combat as long as they spend the required REQ points on it.

The new system allows Halo 5: Guardians gamers to get access to extra hardware in the Warzone mode, with each player able to use a range of cards that can be obtained via both gameplay and by using real-world money to get packs.

343 Industries says all players will have 54 REQ cards on launch and the points to buy some more. They add that more than 1,000 of them will be featured, with extra packages coming once the title is out.

Halo 5: Guardians will be offered on the Xbox One starting on October 27.
