The development team at 343 Industries is ready to offer a lot of information on the Forge that will be part of Halo 5: Guardians, saying that the coming title offers the widest range of options in the series for those gamers who want to create new multiplayer experiences for the shooter.

In a new official site post, the studio says that all the new features are designed to empower gamers to express their creativity and to give them the tools they need to create new content, test it and then share it with friends.

Forge for Halo 5: Guardians will not be offered when the game launches, but there are plans to make it available at some point in December, with new features added for free based on the feedback offered by the creator community on the Xbox One.

Tom French, the design lead working on the future title, says that the development process has been ongoing for three years, and since then the new tools have been used to tweak maps internally at 343 Industries.

The controller-based commands for the Forge have been tweaked, with the developer explaining that they are aiming to keep "users hands in the default 'home' position so there’s less reaching for buttons which speeds up the building process. Don’t worry long-time Forgers, it took the Forgers we brought in a little bit to get used to but even the most hesitant were soon up and building maps at full speed."

Multi-select, contextual help, rotation and grid snaps, precision editing and smart magnets are all used to make it easy to create and edit content using the mode.

Halo 5: Guardians will offer new options in the Forge

Gamers can group objects to handle them as one, and there more than 1,600 of them to work with, including new types, more ways to link them to the map, and extra content for those that fans will recognize from previous installment.

The Forge in Halo 5: Guardians also features a better budgeting tool, and 1,024 objects can be placed on each map.

There are also improved tools to deal with lighting, and gamers can use three core templates to work with: alpine, glacier and space.

All elements of a map can be scripted to move, change colors and interact with others, and users will also be able to use new menus.

Halo 5: Guardians will be launched on the Xbox One on October 27.
